You shouldn’t have to translate yourself in therapy.

I’m Dhiren, a British Indian counsellor offering therapy for South Asian and POC adults, online in the UK and abroad, or in person in London and Essex. I know what it’s like to live between two sets of expectations, and to be called the strong one so often that asking for help feels like failing.

The first call is free. Sessions after that are £80.

Does any of this sound familiar?

The first person in your family to even consider therapy, and half expecting to be judged for it.

Carrying your parents’ hopes, your own life, and the gap between them.

Tired of explaining your culture before you can get to what’s wrong.

Holding experiences of racism, at work or anywhere else, that you’ve learned to brush off.

Queer and South Asian or POC, and not sure there’s anywhere both parts can sit.

Why it can help to see someone who gets the context

You won’t have to explain why you can’t just cut them off, or how respect and resentment can sit in the same room.

I’ll understand the landscape. I won’t assume I know what it’s like for you.

What we might work on

  • Family expectations and duty

  • Guilt and boundaries with family

  • Living between cultures

  • Racism and its effects

  • Grief families don’t talk about

  • Identity and belonging

  • Being the strong one

Questions about South Asian and POC therapy

My family can’t know I’m in therapy. Is that ok?

Yes. What we talk about stays between us. Sessions can be online from wherever feels private, and I’ll only contact you in the way you’ve agreed.

Will you judge my family?

No. You can love them, be angry with them and feel guilty about both. We work with what’s true for you.

I’ve never done therapy. What if I don’t know what to say?

That’s normal, especially if therapy wasn’t talked about at home. You don’t need to prepare anything.

Do you only work with South Asian and POC clients?

No. It’s what I specialise in, and anyone is welcome.
